Membership Declaration
THIS COMPLETED FORM MUST ACCOMPANY YOUR APPLICATION OR RENEWAL PAYMENT.
The Internet Industry Association relies on membership contributions as its main source of funding. This contribution is made up of two components, an annual membership fee and an industry support levy (explained below).
Please note that your membership will not activate until the levy is received.
So that we can preserve the self-assessment model, businesses need to join and subsequently renew each year in the correct category. The membership contribution formula is designed to ensure that businesses are levied according to their capacity to contribute and to permit businesses of all sizes to participate in the benefits of IIA membership. Contributions are calculated according to your ‘Relevant Commercial Interest’. This term is interpreted broadly, is self assessed by applicants, reviewed by the IIA Board prior to application approval and reviewed annually on renewal of your membership. To expedite the approval of your application or renewal, please ensure accuracy of your current financial year estimate.

... declare that the category indicated in the check box above, accurately reflects the range of revenue for our relevant commercial interest for the current financial year.
I undertake to be bound by the IIA constitution.
I note that membership is renewed annually on the anniversary of my application and acceptance by the Board of the IIA.
I acknowledge that the industry support levy must be paid before our membership will be activated.
I acknowledge that the membership contribution is non-refundable in whole or part.
Note on terms used in this Declaration:
‘Industry Support Levy’ The IIA Board with the approval of our company auditors has agreed to a re-characterisation of the traditional IIA membership fee into two components. These comprise a base membership fee which relates to the annual term of the membership and an industry levy designed to support IIA’s activities generally. The combined total of these two contributions has been set to correspond with the previous membership fee payable in each category.
‘Relevant Commercial Interest’ means “the estimated aggregate annual revenue and or costs avoided for the 12 months from the date of joining as the case may be, derived from:
- the provision of goods
- the provision of services (including but not limited to the provision of information, professional advice, advertising, directory listing, search, review, research or subscription services)
- the provision of access using the IP Protocol
- the licensing or sale of software, music, games or
- other forms of entertainment; the sale or rental of hardware;
- or any other activity to which commercial value can reasonably be ascribed pertaining to, or provided on or via the internet. For the avoidance of doubt, this definition is to be construed widely so as to properly reflect the commercial value to the Member of the internet in Australia.
Please note that applications for membership and renewal are subject to the Board being satisfied that the declaration of category is true and fair.
